Benefits of Membership

Membership benefits include: September through May membership meetings with a genealogical program; our newsletter, Timelines; participation in our Special Interest Groups [SIGs]; and reduced pricing on selected genealogy software and guidebooks.
 
Our website has a Members Only section. Using your personal username and password, you have access to the recordings of past membership meeting programs together with all related handouts, as well as the recordings and handouts from our Special Interest Group sessions. Also, there are copies of our Timelines newsletter, meeting minutes, corporate documents, and access to any exclusive discounts offered to members.

Membership is open to anyone researching their genealogy and family history, regardless of the family’s geographic location or the member’s research experience. Most members are "transplants" to Florida or “snowbirds” and their research interests cover many states and countries. Members’ research experience ranges from novices to those with years of experience.
 
All programs are streamed live over Zoom. Participation is easy from any place with internet access.
 
The Events calendar on our website, www.egsfl.org, shows all EGSFL-sponsored events, including membership meetings and Special Interest Group sessions.
 
Our membership meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from September through May for a program focused on genealogy and family history. Meeting dates vary for May, November, and December to avoid holiday conflicts. All meetings are held at the Elsie Quirk Library, 100 East Dearborn St., Englewood FL, from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the second-floor large meeting room.
 
Our membership year is from September 1 through August 31. 
 
The Annual Membership Dues are:
           Individual membership - $20.00           Family* membership - $ 25.00

*A family membership consists of two people living at the same address.
 
Note: First-year memberships have an added fee of $10.00 per person for a name tag worn at all society events.
 
Note: Recognizing that few of our programs may remain when joining mid-year, we offer a $10 discount for applications received between January 1 and April 30. During this period, the first-year individual membership is $10, plus $10 for a name tag, for a total of $20. The first-year family membership is $15, plus $20 for two name tags, for a total of $35.
